Mental Health Monday – Week 50

This week I’d like to discuss perception.

Perception is a mental impression that the mind creates regarding a situation.

It can be tricky to navigate, as sometimes those impressions can be both positive & negative based on how you feel regarding the said situation.

Each of us has a unique perspective designed & tailored to fit us.

We may have similarities, but perspective is truly one of a kind.

In turn, it creates the perception in which we receive & collect information given to us.

Two people can receive the same information & process it differently so it’s important to keep that in mind.

Learn to hold space for not only yourself but for others as well & be emotionally mature enough to communicate through your issues or disagreements.

A difference in opinion doesn’t need to result in disrespect or chaos.

Points can be made without belittling someone in the process.

When it comes to perception, it’s important to maintain accountability.

Maintaining accountability will serve as acknowledgment & aid in having those difficult conversations when necessary.

It’s important to keep in mind that we’re all learning, growing, & dealing with things we may not always speak of, so practicing being intentional in regard to how information is given & perceived is key.

Learn to look outside of your own perspective & see all sides of a situation.
